How to Set Up AppsFlyer Tracking with HilltopAds

This guide explains how to integrate AppsFlyer with HilltopAds to track installs, in-app events, and campaign performance.

How to connect AppsFlyer and HilltopAds

Step 1. Open Integrated Partners in AppsFlyer

  1. Log in to your AppsFlyer account.

  2. Open the dashboard of the app you want to track.

  3. In the left menu, click Active Integrations.

Step 2. Select HilltopAds as a Partner

  1. Use the search field to find HilltopAds.

  2. Click HilltopAds to open the partner configuration page.

Step 3. Enable the Integration

  1. Open the Integration tab.

  2. Enable the Activate Partner toggle.

  3. Keep this toggle enabled while your campaigns are running.

Step 4. Configure Install Postbacks

  1. In the Integration tab, enable postbacks for the Install event. This allows AppsFlyer to send install data to HilltopAds.

Step 5. Configure In-App Event Postbacks (Optional)

If you want to track events such as registration, purchase, or deposit:

  1. Enable In-App Event Postbacks.

  2. Click Add Event.

  3. Fill in the fields:

    • SDK Event Name – event name received by AppsFlyer

    • Partner Event Identifier – event name provided by HilltopAds

    • Sending Option – select the user source

    • Send Revenue – choose how revenue should be sent

  4. Set the attribution window if needed.

  5. Click Save Integration.

Step 6. Create an Attribution Link

  1. Open the Attribution Link tab.

  2. Configure tracking parameters as needed, including:

    • Campaign name and ID

    • Ad ID and Ad name

    • Adset ID and Adset name

    • Channel

    • Cost currency and model

    • Site ID / Sub Site ID

    • Optional custom parameters (af_sub1–af_sub5)

  3. Set the Click Attribution Lookback Window.

  4. Generate the Attribution Link.

  5. Copy the generated link.

Step 7. Configure Cost Data (Optional)

  1. Open the Cost tab.

  2. Enable cost data sharing if required.

  3. If needed, connect Protect360 for extended raw-data analysis.

Step 8. Configure Ad Revenue (Optional)

  1. Open the Ad Revenue tab.

  2. Configure revenue tracking settings if you want to send ad revenue data.

Supported HilltopAds Parameters

You may use the following parameters in postbacks:

  • {{geo}} – country code

  • {{adid}} – ad or banner ID

  • {{zoneid}} – traffic source ID

  • {{campaignid}} – campaign ID

  • {{lang}} – user language

  • {{category}} – Mainstream / Adult

  • {{cpmbid}} – CPM bid

  • {{price}} – impression or click price

  • {{browsername}} – browser name

Required parameters:

  • {{token}} – conversion ID

  • {{price}} – conversion cost

  • {{currency}} – conversion currency

  • {{advertiserID}} – advertiser ID

Step 9. Link AppsFlyer to HilltopAds Campaigns

  1. Log in to your HilltopAds account.

  2. Go to Manage Campaigns → Add Campaign.

  3. Configure campaign settings:

    • ad format

    • traffic channel

    • campaign name

  4. Paste the AppsFlyer Attribution Link into the Final Destination URL field.

  5. Save the campaign.
