7. What you can ask, managing and revoking access

Why HilltopAds MCP is a useful tool for you?

Written by HilltopAds

You do not need to know the tool names — just describe what you want. A few examples that work across all four clients:

Reading

  • “What is my current balance?”

  • “List my campaigns and their ads.”

  • “Show details for campaign <ID>.”

  • “Show my statistics for the last 7 days, grouped by GEO.”

  • “Which zones or sources are on the whitelist for campaign <ID>?”

Acting

(the client asks you to confirm before it runs)

  • “Create a Popunder campaign named <name>, CPM, targeting <GEO>, bid <rate>.”

  • “Start campaign <ID>” / “Stop campaign <ID>.”

  • “Set the bid for campaign <ID> to <rate>.”

  • “Add these sources to the blacklist for campaign <ID>.”

Statistics default to yesterday when you do not give a date, and dates use the Y-m-d format (for example, 2026-07-16). You can always ask the assistant which operations are available to you.

Managing and revoking access

  • The connector uses a dedicated API key. Deactivating or deleting that key in My Account → API immediately cuts off the AI client's access.

  • You can remove the connector at any time inside the AI client (delete the plugin/connector, or run /mcp in Claude Code and disable the server).

  • Changes need your approval. Read requests just return data; anything that creates or edits a campaign, changes a bid, or edits a list is shown to you first and runs only when you confirm. In Claude you can pre-set whole tool groups to Needs approval.

  • You control the spend. In these examples the assistant creates campaigns inactive, so nothing spends until you review and start them — but that is its default, not a guarantee. Ask explicitly if you want a campaign kept inactive.
