How to set up an Auto Optimization tool?

To automatically remove non-profitable ad zones from your ads.

Auto Optimization tool will automatically add non-profitable ad zones to the BlackList. You do not need to add them manually.

To set up Auto Optimization rules, you need to analize your statistics and identify the necessary rules from the statistics.

To set up an Auto Optimization tool, please do the following:

  1. Go to your HilltopAds account;

  2. Navigate to the Manage Campaigns section;

  3. Click on the required ad campaign or create a new one;

  4. Specify the necessary ad campaign settings and scroll down to the Auto Optimization section;

  5. Specify the Auto Optimization settings:

    • Period - analize period;

    • Impressions - a number of impressions that an ad zone must receive (higher or less);

    • Spend - an amount that must be spent to an ad zone (higher or less);

    • Conversions* - a number of conversions that an ad zone must receive (higher or less);

    • eCPA* - a cost of a conversion received from an ad zone.

Please note, to specify the Conversions and eCPA parameters you need to set up Postback to pass these details to HilltopAds.

You can create as many Auto Optimization rules as you need. All rules will be connected with an OR logical rule.


For example, at your statistics you see that zones, where you did not get any conversions, have more than 1,500 impressions and less than 1 conversion. So, you can specify the rules:

  • Analize period is 1 day (24 hours)

  • If there are more than 1,500 impressions

  • And less than 1 conversion

Then an ad zone will be added to the BlackList.

OR

  • Analize period is 1 day (24 hours)

  • If there are more than 1,500 impressions

  • And eCPA (conversion price) is higher than 0.07$

Then an ad zone also will be added to the Black List.

Please pay attention to the Auto Optimization period. You will get the first results only after the chosen number of days or months. For example, if you choose the analysed period of 2 days (48 hours), the first non-profitable ad zones will be added to the BlackList on the third day.
