Postback for publishers is a unique feature that helps publishers analyze their traffic and get thought-provoking insights such as number of counted impressions, conversion rate, etc.

What is Postback for publishers and how to use it at HilltopAds?

Postback is a tool for publishers that allows the HilltopAds system to send real-time event data back to a publisher tracking system. This data exchange can significantly improve optimization and traffic efficiency on a publisher side.

The Postback tool can send you specific details related to your traffic — such as:

  • Counted impressions;

  • Impressions that were lost or filtered;

  • Number of conversions;

  • Click data;

  • Payout amounts.

This information helps publishers analyze performance and make data-driven decisions to maximize their revenue.

Please note: For impressions, we typically send data for only 10% of them — this is determined by our QA or your account manager. These will include only counted and verified impression.

How to set up Postback?

To enable postback tracking, please contact your HilltopAds personal manager and provide the following:

  1. Postback URL – Your server-side tracking endpoint

  2. Event types – Let us know which actions you'd like to receive (e.g., conversions, impressions, etc.)

Once everything is set up, our system will start sending event data to your specified postback URL, helping you keep better track of performance and optimize accordingly.

If you have questions or need assistance setting this up, don’t hesitate to reach out to your account manager.
